William A. “Bill” Hanway, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016, at Mosaic Life Care.
Bill was born on March 22, 1926, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Anthony W. and Florence M. (Vesper) Hanway.
Bill proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp during WW II. He was employed at Westab for 18 years and Clayton Service Station for 50 years.
On May 10, 1947, Bill married Ann Brushwood in St. Joseph, Missouri. She passed away on February 14, 2011.
On September 24, 2015, he married Eleanor Brushwood Blazinski. She survives of the home.
Bill was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #359.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Bill is preceded in death by grandson Adam Penland, one brother and three sisters.
Surviving family includes wife Eleanor Blazinski-Hanway, St. Joseph, Missouri, three daughters, Pam Clark (Joe), Towana Schurke (Charlie), Kim Crotty (Bill), all of St. Joseph, sister Alice Hanway, California, three step-daughters, Darla Anderson, Easton, Missouri, Terri Wallis, Debbra Schroeder, both of St. Joseph, six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild, and son Dan Hanway (Nancy), Sun City, Arizona.
Memorial Mass 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the Church one hour prior to the service. Inurnment following the mass at Horigan Chapel, located within Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Hanway has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Noyes Home for Children or Second Harvest Food Bank.
